Indians prospect Frazier goes deep in defeat

Clint Frazier's first home run of the season came at a good time for Class A Lake County, but it wasn't enough to secure a victory Thursday against West Michigan. After his two-run homer tied the game with two outs in the eighth inning, the Whitecaps recovered and went on to win, 3-2, in 10 innings.

Frazier, the Indians' No. 2 prospect and No. 45 overall throughout Major League Baseball, went 1-for-4 and struck out twice.

The Indians selected Frazier with the fifth overall pick of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft. The center fielder played well in his professional debut last summer in the Arizona Rookie League, but his start to this season was delayed by a hamstring injury he suffered during Spring Training. He struggled somewhat since debuting with Lake County on April 17. In 14 games, he is hitting .226 with a .710 OPS.

The Indians' second pick of the 2013 Draft was also in action Thursday for the Captains. Right-hander Dace Kime, the Indians' No. 15 prospect, started the game, but had his night cut short when a comebacker hit him in the right wrist in the third inning. According to a source, there was no fracture.

Kime threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings. He struck out two batters and allowed three hits.
