Indians seeking full-time 'Governor of Brohio'

CLEVELAND -- It's election season in Brohio.

On Monday, the Indians announced that they are beginning a search for a full-time Governor of Brohio, the section of blue-clad fans inspired by Tribe first baseman Nick Swisher. What began as a small promotion evolved into an event during each homestand at Progressive Field last summer.

Now, Swisher and the Indians want someone to lead the charge.

The governor position will be filled via voting on Indians.com by fans, who will make up half of the total vote. Swisher will then have the final say over the remainder of the ballot to determine the winner, who will win tickets to each Friday and Saturday home game in Cleveland this season in Section 117, which was dubbed "Brohio" in honor of Swisher.

As specified in a news release, the winner, who must be at least 18 years old, will be asked to engage and interact with fans in the Brohio section and throughout the stadium. They will be expected to have full knowledge of happenings in Section 117, and must stay in contact with Indians representatives. They will lead cheers, encourage others to wear the Brohio shirt, create signs and more.

Interested fans will submit videos to Indians.com/Brohio explaining why fans and Swisher should vote for them to be the governor. At least three finalists will later campaign in an interactive event on the KeyBank main stage at Tribe Fest during the 4-8 p.m. ET session on Jan. 25, when they will be interviewed by Swisher and other Indians personalities.

Those fans will then be entered into the voting on Indians.com.

The contest submission period ends at 8 p.m. ET on Jan. 15.
