Forearm tightness ends AFL stint for Bundy

BALTIMORE -- Orioles No. 2 prospect Dylan Bundy will not make another start in the Arizona Fall League, executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette said Wednesday at the General Managers Meetings in Boca Raton, Fla.

Bundy, who was scratched from Monday's start, had been considered day to day with right forearm tightness.

"We had to shut him down in the Arizona Fall League," Duquette said. "He had a muscle strain in his right forearm. We're hopeful that he'll just rehab that and be ready for the springtime."

Duquette said it "doesn't appear to be" a significant injury to Bundy, though another setback is certainly troubling for the young right-hander. Bundy, who was cleared to start a throwing program last month, was added to the Peoria Javelinas' roster and made a pair of one-inning appearances last week, his first game action since May. He was slated to make his first start Monday before being scratched.

Bundy has struggled to stay healthy since Tommy John surgery caused him to miss the 2013 season. He pitched 41 1/3 Minor League innings the following year as the organization was cautious in his return. A full-go in Spring Training this past season, Bundy only logged 22 innings before he was shut down with right shoulder soreness at Double-A Bowie.

Duquette also noted that fellow top pitching prospect Hunter Harvey is "working to come back and get ready to pitch."

Harvey has been rehabbing back from an elbow injury.
