The right-hander, one of three Puerto Rican natives on the World Team, is enjoying a stellar season with Class A West Michigan. Jimenez, 20, boasts a 1.69 ERA and 0.844 WHIP in 20 appearances for the Whitecaps.

Jimenez is rated as the Tigers' 10th-best prospect on MLBPipeline.com, which praises his 97-98 mph fastball and power slider.

Major League Baseball, in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America and the 30 Major League clubs, selected the 25 players on each team. Tony Perez will manage the World Team, while Ken Griffey Sr. will take charge of the U.S. Team.

Last year, right-hander Jake Thompson and outfielder Steven Moya represented Detroit in the Futures Game.

The 17th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game takes place at 3 p.m. ET on July 12, and it can be seen live on MLB Network and MLB.com, with Matt Vasgersian, Dan Plesac, Heidi Watney and Jonathan Mayo on the call. In addition, SiriusXM Radio will broadcast play-by-play coverage of the event live on MLB Network Radio (XM channel 89; Sirius channel 209).
