Maddon plans to repeat 'methods' during break

CHICAGO -- During the All-Star break, Cubs manager Joe Maddon planned on heading to the same Florida hotel where he spent the midseason time off in 2008. That year, his Rays reached the World Series.

"I'm going to hole up in a particular hotel that I holed up in 2008," Maddon said. "I'm using the same methods."

First, though, he will go to Tampa Bay to check out wife Jaye's new boxing and fitness center and also spend time at his restaurant, Ava.

"I just like to do nothing," Maddon said of the break. "I'm good at doing nothing when I get that opportunity."

• Chris Coghlan did not appear in Sunday's 3-1 win over the White Sox, and the outfielder's "Iron Man" streak was snapped after 150 straight games, the longest in the Majors.

Maddon kept the streak alive on Saturday when Coghlan got the last at-bat of the game.
