Nathan, Rangers donate $25k to help Sandy victims

ARLINGTON -- Reliever Joe Nathan and the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation are combining to donate $25,000 to the American Red Cross to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Nathan grew up in Pine Bush, N.Y., which is just north of New York City and played baseball at Stony Brook University on Long Island. Nathan has also been a big supporter of the Stony Brook athletic program.

Major League Baseball and the Players Association announced a joint donation of $1 million to aid in the emergency relief efforts along the East Coast.
