Gallo smashes three homers for Express
Rangers' No. 1 prospect hits trio of long balls for fifth time in his career
Joey Gallo homered three times in Triple-A Round Rock's 6-1 win over New Orleans.
While hitting a trio of bombs is a memorable night for any player, it's not exactly a new accomplishment for the Rangers' No. 1 prospect (No. 8 overall). Gallo has now done so five times in his Minor League career and he has 124 homers in 360 Minor League games, an average of 55.8 per every 162 contests.
The third baseman finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs on the night.
Gallo is a little more than a month removed from his debut with the big league club. In Arlington, he hit homers in each of his first two games, but eventually cooled off to finish .218/.306/.448 with five roundtrippers and 13 RBIs in 25 contests. The 21-year-old made his Round Rock debut on July 1 and Thursday night's performance marked his first three-homer game at Triple-A.
Gallo's outburst is the continuation of a recent hot streak. He has six homers and eight RBIs in his past six games.
