Jones delivers game-winner for San Antonio

Kelly, two relievers throw shutout for Single-A Fort Wayne

A day after learning he had been selected to play in the Midwest League All-Star Game, third baseman Duanel Jones hit a two-run, walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth for Double-A San Antonio Friday night. Jones hit capped a three-run rally that gave the 23-30 Missions a 8-7 win over Northwest Arkansas in San Antonio. He was 3-for-5 Friday with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Jones, 22, is hitting .308 (8-for-26) with six walks, five RBIs and seven runs scored in nine games with San Antonio since being promoted from low Single-A Fort Wayne on May 25. With the TipCaps, Jones was hitting .327 (the fifth-highest mark in the Midwest League) with 11 doubles, seven homers and 36 RBIs in 41 games.

He won't be in Peoria, Ill., for the June 23 Midwest League All-Star Game.

Second baseman Diego Goris (.266) was 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and a run-scoring hit to start the ninth-inning rally Friday.

Right fielder Yeison Asencio (.271) was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored Friday. Center fielder Travis Jankowski (.339) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and his 17th steal. Catcher Jason Hagerty (.187) was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Right-handed starter Justin Hancock (2.81 earned run average) allowed seven runs on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts in his first start since being named last week's the Texas League Player of the Week. Right-hander Luis De La Cruz (9.00 ERA) struck out two in two perfect innings. RHP Dennis O'Grady (1-2, 5.28 ERA) pitched a perfect top of the ninth to get the win.

TRIPLE-A EL PASO (26-29): Omaha 5, CHIHUAHUAS 2 -- Starting LHP Robbie Erlin (5-4, 5.49 ERA) allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts in six innings. RHP Nick Vincent (3.43 ERA) allowed two hits with two strikeouts in two scoreless innings. RF Rymer Liriano (.285) was 1-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored. 3B Brett Wallace (.280) was 1-for-2 with a RBI.

HIGH SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (24-30): Inland Empire 9, STORM 6 -- SS Jose Rondon (.282) was 2-for-4 with two steals (13 on the season) and two runs scored. CF Auston Bousfield (.317) was 2-for-4 with a RBI, a steal (his 15th) and a run scored. C Michael Miller (.179) was 2-for-4 with a double. 1B Marcus Davis (.245) was 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Starting RHP Zechariah Lemond (3.96 ERA) allowed four runs on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts in six innings. RHP Sam Holland (2-1, 6.17 ERA) allowed five runs (three earned) on four hits in a third of an inning to take the loss. RHP Genison Reyes (4.41 ERA) allowed no runs on two hits and a walk with a strikeout in 1 2/3 innings.

LOW SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (23-31): TinCaps 3, BELOIT 0 -- Right-handed starter Michael Kelly and two relievers combined on a five-hit shutout. Kelly (2-0, 3.38 ERA) allowed two hits with four strikeouts over six innings. RHP T.J. Weir (5.24 ERA) allowed three hits and a walk with a strikeout over two innings. RHP Bryan Verbitsky (2.74 ERA) had a strikeout in a perfect inning for his third save. DH Nick Torres (.326) was 2-for-4 with a run scored. 1B Trae Santos (.256) was 2-for-4 with a run scored. LF Franchy Cordero (.223) was 2-for-5. 3B Chase Jensen (.210) was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

DOMINICAN SUMMER LEAGUE PADRES (6-0): Padres 5, WHITE SOX 2 -- Starting RHP Manuel Gonzalez (1-0, 1.13 ERA) allowed one run on five hits with three walks and six strikeouts in five innings. RHP Starling Ynfante (0.00 ERA) allowed one unearned run on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts over four innings to get his first save. RF Jaffe Garcia (.364) was 2-for-5 with a double. SS Luis Guzman (.143) was 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored. LF Dayon Olmo (.320) was 1-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored.
