Jose Bautista named Honda Player of the Month

TORONTO BLUE JAYS right-fielder JOSE BAUTISTA has been named the HONDA PLAYER OF THE MONTH for June by the TORONTO CHAPTER of the BBWAA.  Honda, the official vehicle of the Blue Jays, will make a donation to the charity of Jose's choosing.

BAUTISTA, 31, earns his second monthly honour, capturing the distinction in back-to-back months. Bautista was the unanimous choice, earning first place votes on all ballots. The right-handed hitter batted .271 with 14 home runs and 30 RBI, including a .408 OBP and a .750 SLG. The 14 home runs set a Blue Jays record for home runs in a single month, surpassing the 12 hit by Carlos Delgado (Aug. 1999), Jose Cruz (Aug., 2001) and Bautista (May and Aug., 2010). The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native led all Major League players in Home Runs, RBI, Walks and Slugging for the month of June.

Also receiving votes for the June award were OF Colby Rasmus (.291, 8HR 25RBI), 1B Edwin Encarnacion (.322, 5HR, 13RBI), 3B Brett Lawrie (.310, 4HR, 12 RBI), & RHP Casey Janssen (4SV, 0.90ERA).
