Bautista to sit out All-Star Game

KANSAS CITY -- Due to a sore shoulder, Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista won't be participating in Tuesday's 86th All-Star Game presented by T-Mobile.

He did play in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Royals, and went 1-for-5 with a run scored.

American League All-Star manager Ned Yost, in conjunction with Major League Baseball, announced on Saturday that Minnesota second baseman Brian Dozier will replace Bautista on the AL's active roster in Cincinnati. Bautista said through Toronto officials late Saturday afternoon that he will address the subject with the media on Sunday morning before the Blue Jays take on the Royals in the final game before the All-Star break.

Bautista, who was selected via the Player Ballot, is hitting .238 with 17 homers and 59 RBIs. He has been invited to Cincinnati with full All-Star honors. Dozier had been one of the players named to the 2015 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Final Vote. He will join Twins teammate Glen Perkins on the AL roster.
