Hamilton could start Minors stint Monday
LOS ANGELES -- Josh Hamilton, who is on the disabled list with a strained left hamstring, has resumed baseball activities and could be ready for a medical rehabilitation assignment as early as Monday.

It will more likely be later in the week, because there are some tests that Hamilton still needs to pass. But he has been working out with Triple-A Round Rock and taking full batting practice.
Hamilton played in just seven games after being activated off the disabled list on May 25 and was 6-for-22 with two home runs and five RBIs. Hamilton, while recovering from shoulder surgery, played in 12 games on medical rehab assignment after being acquired from the Angels, but he most likely won't need nearly that long this time around.
Martin Perez, in the final stages of recovering from Tommy John elbow reconstruction surgery, is also close to resuming his medical rehab assignment. Perez made one start on rehab assignment for Double-A Frisco before being recalled because of a tight left groin muscle. Perez will throw in the bullpen on Friday, and if that goes well, he could pitch for Frisco on Monday.
Derek Holland, sidelined with a strained muscle in his left shoulder, had another positive MRI result on Thursday. The exam showed continued improvement in the shoulder, but still not enough to be cleared to throw off a mound. He will remain on a progressive throwing program.
Matt Harrison is expected to start for Round Rock on Friday. It will be his fourth start on medical rehabilitation assignment. Harrison threw 6 2/3 innings in his last start against Memphis, allowing two runs on five hits, four walks and five strikeouts. He is close to being ready after undergoing spinal fusion surgery on June 3, 2014.
Adrian Beltre, on the disabled list with a sprained left thumb, said he is still not able to swing a bat. Beltre, who is traveling with the team, said he tests the thumb every day, but it is still not close to being ready.
