San Antonio right-hander Justin Hancock was named the Texas League Pitcher of the Week for May 25-31. Hancock, 24, joined right-hander Colin Rea as the second member of the Missions' starting rotation to win the Texas League's Pitcher of the Week honor this season.

Hancock, the Padres' ninth-round pick in the 2011 Draft out of Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, Ill., has a 5-1 record this season with a 2.02 ERA in 10 starts.

Hancock has allowed 55 hits and 13 runs with 44 strikeouts against 23 walks in 58 innings. He ranks third in the Texas League in ERA, just behind teammate Rea (1.38). Hancock ranks second in the league in wins and innings pitched. He has allowed two runs or less in seven straight starts.

Last week, Hancock, who was a non-roster invitee to San Diego's Spring Training camp, started and won two seven-inning games as part of doubleheaders. He had a 0.00 ERA over 11 innings, allowing six hits and three walks with 14 strikeouts. Hancock posted a career-high eight strikeouts over six innings last Sunday at Northwest Arkansas.
