Ruggiano leads off in tweaked Marlins lineup

WASHINGTON -- The names in manager Mike Redmond's lineup on Wednesday were the same, but the order was different. With a struggling offense that has scored three runs or fewer in six straight games, Redmond figured that they needed a change.

"I've tried, I don't know how many different lineups this season," Redmond said. "We'll try another one and see what happens, see if that makes a difference. I mean, what have we got to lose?"

Wednesday's lineup card featured Justin Ruggiano and Ed Lucas in front of Christian Yelich, who made his first Major League start in the No. 3 spot. Redmond said that he wanted to get more runners on base for slugger Giancarlo Stanton in the cleanup spot.

"Yelich has put together some good at-bats, and hopefully he'll continue that," Redmond said. "[Ruggiano] gave us a little spark the last time he led off, and hopefully he can do that again. But really, it's just mixing guys up."
