Kinsler sets Rangers' hit-by-pitch record

ARLINGTON -- Ian Kinsler set another club record on Friday night when he was hit by a pitch in the ninth inning by Orioles reliever Jim Johnson. It's the 55th time in his career Kinsler has been hit by a pitch, passing Rafael Palmeiro for the most in club history.

Earlier this season, Kinsler set a club record for most stolen bases in a career. Kinsler has 162, one more than Bump Wills. Elvis Andrus is fourth with 142, one behind Toby Harrah with 143.

Kinsler said he expects Andrus to break his stolen-base record within a year or two. Kinsler is likely to hold on to the hit-by-pitch record a little longer. Among active players, Andrus is second with 22, including just one this season.

Craig Gentry has been hit by a pitch 18 times in just 269 career games. Since 1900, only 11 players have appeared in 270 games or fewer and have been hit more than 18 times with a pitch.
