Bryant named NL's top rookie for August

Cubs' All-Star third baseman also won the award in May

CHICAGO -- Kris Bryant continues to collect accolades during his spectacular first season in the Majors. The Cubs third baseman, who was an All-Star in July, has been named the National League Rookie of the Month for August. Bryant also won the award in May.

Bryant, 23, had a slash line of .330/.422/.620 with a 1.042 OPS in 28 August games, launching seven home runs and driving in 20 runs to help the Cubs go 19-9 in August and open a 6 1/2-game lead for the second NL Wild Card spot.

Bryant is hitting .269 with 22 homers and 84 RBIs on the season.
