Seager's first homer ruled foul on review

SEATTLE -- Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager had a solo home run overturned using video replay in the fourth inning of Friday's game against the Athletics.

Facing left-handed pitcher Tommy Milone with no outs and Seattle leading, 1-0, Seager sharply hooked an 0-1 pitch into the right-field corner. The baseball cleared the fence by a few feet near the foul pole, and first-base umpire Pat Hoberg signaled for a home run.

Right fielder Brandon Moss immediately began urging the crew to review it as A's manager Bob Melvin took a few steps out of the dugout. After the umpires quickly deliberated at the edge of the infield, there was an official review that lasted one minute, 47 seconds. The call was overturned, and Seager returned to home plate. He struck out on the next pitch. The home run would have been his first of the season.
