Last call: Sickness grounds Lucroy

PHOENIX -- With Brewers pitchers and catchers taking the field Sunday for the season's first official workout, we're introducing a new feature at Brewers.com that you'll see often this spring. When there's news out of the early clubhouse session, we'll post a "Morning Call," which will morph into "Last Call" at the end of the day.

Here's Sunday's entry:

• Catcher Jonathan Lucroy will miss 2-3 days of camp after being diagnosed with the flu. He thought he was dealing with a bad bout of allergies, but doctors detected a fever during Lucroy's physical exam on Saturday and sent him home, lest the bug infect the whole clubhouse.

• The Brewers' spring workouts will be business as usual, manager Ron Roenicke said, with one exception.

"The only thing we've kind of tweaked is we're going to have some 'show and go days' this year," Roenicke said. "The American Legion, 'Show up and play a game.' We looked at the schedule to see where we needed to do that, and Wednesday seems like a day we can do at least three of them on.

• Besides the usual array of jerseys, hoodies and base layers, Brewers starting pitchers had an extra item in their lockers courtesy of Matt Garza. He ordered customized robes with each starting pitcher's name and uniform number embroidered on the back.

Roenicke loved it.

"He jumps in with everything," Roenicke said. "He's a really good team guy and vocal and all the things you want. A little crazy, but that's good, too."

• The Tweet of the day came from Brewers PR man Mike Vassallo:
