Livan enjoys time lending help with Nats

WASHINGTON -- Nationals ambassador Livan Hernandez was with the team during this current homestand. Sunday was his last day, and Hernandez hopes to return some time next month.

Hernandez spent most of the time throwing batting practice -- he threw all of his pitches, including his famous curveball -- and gave advice to the pitchers. It's obvious that Hernandez enjoys his time in the district and would like to be with the team more than once a month.

"Maybe during the second half, I could come to Washington more often," Hernandez said. The most important thing is helping the team in any way. Talk to the people about the mental side of the game, talk about pitching, throw with the pitchers.

"I love to give advice to the [pitchers], because this game can get to your head. You must have your mind more relaxed. When you are not doing well, it's hard. When you do well it's hard, too, because you want to be consistent. The Nationals gave me a job, and I do my best."
