Wilson nears return; Beckett on target for Tuesday

PHOENIX -- Brian Wilson threw 20 pitches at the Dodgers' Camelback Ranch complex Saturday and Josh Beckett threw a bullpen session at Chase Field preceding what could be a time of busy moves for the pitching staff.

Wilson, who was disabled to allow him to rebuild arm strength, is eligible to be activated Tuesday and if it doesn't happen then, it will probably happen within a day or two later. That will require a corresponding roster move to make room for him.

Beckett's bullpen session puts him in line to start Tuesday in San Francisco. He started Thursday night against Detroit. Paul Maholm, who pitched one inning of relief Thursday night, could then start Wednesday night. Or the two could swap starting days.

With Beckett and Maholm pitching the first two games in San Franicsco, the Thursday game would seem to fall to Hyun-Jin Ryu. But the Dodgers might be tempted to give him another day off, let him start against Arizona again on six days' rest, and start Zack Greinke Thursday in San Francisco on normal rest.

Ryu has pitched 19 consecutive scoreless innings against Arizona, including 12 innings already this year.
