Maine Red Sox Service Scholarship Recipients to be Introduced at Fenway Park Sunday

Red Sox Foundation to Present 10 Maine Public High School Seniors With $1,000 College Scholarships During Maine Day at Fenway Park, Presented by L.L. Bean

BOSTON, MA - The Boston Red Sox will introduce the 10 recipients of the Maine Red Sox Service Scholarships in a ceremony at Fenway Park before the Red Sox-Orioles game on Sunday, July 6. The program awards students from 10 public high schools in Maine chosen by the foundation with $1,000 scholarships towards their college education.

This year marks the inauguration of the scholarship program in Maine. It launched in New Hampshire in 2010, and Rhode Island in 2012. It now runs in all six New England states.

Students from each of the 10 chosen high schools are selected based on academic performance, financial aid eligibility, and most importantly, demonstrated community service.

"We are pleased to recognize the accomplishments of these hard-working students and their dedication to community service," said Red Sox Foundation Board Member Joan Alfond. "We look forward to welcoming and honoring them at Fenway Park before they begin their college education in the fall."

On the field to honor the students on Sunday will be Governor of Maine, Paul LePage, Red Sox Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships Troup Parkinson, and Red Sox Foundation Executive Director Gena Borson.

Maine Red Sox Scholarship Award recipients include:

  1. Bailey Banville, Marshwood High School
  2. Brianna DeGone, Leavitt Area High School
  3. Monique Mills, Skowhegan Area High School
  4. Jacob Morrow-Spitzer, Portland High School
