Mariners activate LHP Charlie Furbush from disabled list
RHP Shawn Kelley optioned to AAA Tacoma
SEATTLE, Wash. -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced today the following roster moves:
- LHP Charlie Furbush returned from rehab assignment at AAA Tacoma and activated from 15-day disabled list (strained left triceps).
- RHP Shawn Kelley optioned to AAA Tacoma (post-game 8/15).
Furbush, 26, has been on the disabled list since July 18 with a strained left triceps. He endured the injury July 17 at Kansas City after retiring the only batter he faced. The left-hander is 4-2, 2.17 ERA (9 ER, 37.1 IP) with 47 strikeouts in 34 relief appearances with the Mariners. He has held left-handed hitters to a .155 (9x58) batting average with 27 strikeouts.
He made five rehab appearances with AAA Tacoma, posting a 6.00 ERA (4 ER, 6.0 IP) with 7 strikeouts.
Kelley, 28, is 2-3 with a 3.41 ERA (13 ER, 34.1 IP) in 36 relief appearances with the Mariners this season.
