Mariners Caravan winding down this week
Three-week journey in Northwest ends with Friday autograph session at Team Store
SEATTLE -- The three-week Mariners Caravan comes to a conclusion this week, with one final public autograph session still on the slate Friday at the Mariners Team Store at Southcenter Mall.
Various players and broadcasters have been touring the Pacific Northwest since Jan. 8, making stops at elementary schools and Boys & Girls Clubs in various communities, along with occasional open autograph sessions.
The grand finale for the general public comes Friday from 5-6 p.m. at the Mariners Team Store in Tukwila, where outfielder Michael Saunders, shortstop Brad Miller, pitcher James Paxton and broadcaster Rick Rizzs will be joined by the Mariner Moose.
The public appearance at Southcenter is free, and attendees receive autographs, photos with the Mariner Moose and the chance to win prizes.
The Caravan also has a school visit and a youth baseball clinic this week in Delta, British Columbia, then returns to Washington for stops in Blaine and Bellevue, before arriving at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma on Friday afternoon for the final non-public event as the tour caps off a three-week swing that will have stopped in 27 communities across the Northwest.
While Saunders, Miller and Paxton are closing out the tour, teammates Danny Farquhar, Nick Franklin, Brandon Maurer and Charlie Furbush took part in previous weeks, along with former catchers Dan Wilson and Dave Valle and broadcasters Dave Sims, Aaron Goldsmith and Mike Blowers.
