Mariners recall infielder Carlos Triunfel from AAA Tacoma

Catcher Jesus Sucre placed on the 15-day disabled list

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager Jack Zduriencik announced today the following roster moves:

  • C Jesus Sucre placed on 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 6.
  • INF Carlos Triunfel recalled from AAA Tacoma.

Triunfel (#1) will be in uniform and available for today's 1:10 p.m. game vs. the New York Yankees at Safeco Field.

Triunfel, 23, returns for his second stint with Mariners this season after being on optioned to Tacoma on June 5. He has appeared in 5 games with Seattle this year. Triunfel recorded 3 hits in 8 at-bats in two games with Tacoma prior to his recall. Overall has is batting .303 (54x178) with 31 runs scored, 15 doubles, 2 triples, 4 home runs and 19 RBI in 46 games with AAA Tacoma this season.

Triunfel appeared in 10 games with the Mariners in 2012, batting .227 (5x22) with a pair of doubles and 3 RBI.

Sucre, 25, left the game on June 4 vs. White Sox with a left wrist sprain. In 8 games this season, Sucre is hitting .192 (5x26) with 1 run scored, 3 RBI and 3 walks. He made his Major League debut on May 24 vs. the Rangers, going 1-for-4 with 1 run scored.
