Mariners recall LHP James Paxton & RHP Erasmo Ramirez

Paxton will start tonight's game against the Athletics

OAKLAND, Calif. - Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced the following roster moves:

  •          James Paxton, LHP, recalled from AAA Tacoma
  •          Erasmo Ramirez, RHP, recalled from AAA Tacoma

Paxton, will start tonight's game against the Oakland Athletics at O.co Coliseum at 7:05 pm.

Paxton, 25, was optioned to AAA Tacoma on Aug. 27 after his start against Texas on the 26th but did not appear in a minor league game before being recalled. He is 2-1 with a 1.65 ERA (5 ER, 27.1 IP) with 20 strikeouts in 5 starts since coming off of the 60-day disabled list (strained left latissimus dorsi muscle) on Aug. 2. In two stints with Seattle this season is 4-1 with a 1.83 ERA (8 ER, 39.1 IP) with 33 strikeouts in 7 starts. In four rehab starts with Tacoma (3) & Everett (1), he was 0-2 with a 4.85 ERA (7 ER, 13.0 IP) with 16 strikeouts in minors this season.

Ramirez, 24, is in his seventh stint with Seattle this season. In six stints with the Mariners, he is 1-6 with a 5.21 ERA (39 ER, 67.1 IP) with 55 strikeouts. Overall with Tacoma this season is 6-5 with a 3.65 ERA (35 ER, 86.1 IP) with 67 strikeouts in 15 games including 14 starts. Also made one start with High-A High Desert.
