Marlins' Heaney tosses one-hit shutout in Triple-A

Left-hander Andrew Heaney, the Marlins' No. 1 prospect, threw a one-hit shutout Tuesday and Triple-A New Orleans defeated Round Rock, 9-0, in a game shortened to six innings by rain.

Heaney, ranked No. 25 on MLBPipeline.com's Top 100 Prospects list, struck out seven and faced just one batter over the minimum. He threw 78 pitches and earned his first win at Triple-A.

Heaney's lone blemish was a two-out, first-inning single by Round Rock designated hitter Bryan Peterson. He then retired 16 batters in a row before the rain came.

Heaney began the season with Double-A Jacksonville, where he went 4-2 with a 2.35 ERA in nine starts. He made his debut with New Orleans last week and allowed just one run in five innings in his debut.

Overall this season, Heaney has a 2.09 ERA in 11 starts. He has struck out 66 batters and walked 13 in 64 2/3 innings.
