KANSAS CITY -- Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday hasn't had a hit or a walk in the first two games of the I-70 Series, but he's still bearing down on Albert Pujols' club on-base record.
When Holliday was hit by an Edinson Volquez pitch in the fifth inning in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Royals, it extended Holliday's on-base streak to 40 games.
Pujols' club record is 42 games set in 2008. Holliday had also reached base on Friday via a hit-by-pitch.
