Medical update on Michael Brantley

The Cleveland Indians today announced OF MICHAEL BRANTLEY underwent arthroscopic right shoulder surgery this morning in Wilmington, DE. Dr. Craig Morgan performed the procedure to repair a small tear in the labrum of Brantley's non-throwing shoulder.

Brantley originally injured his right, non-throwing shoulder diving for a ball in the third inning on September 22 in Minnesota and was limited to seven plate appearances during the remainder of the 2015 season. Michael then progressed through a conservative rehabilitation program, including a return to batting practice, in mid-to-late October under the guidance of the club's Sports Medicine staff. His persistent symptoms led to a second opinion consultation with Dr. Morgan, who recommended today's procedure.

Michael is expected to be ready for game activity within 5-to-6 months.
