Mets fans can chat with Wheeler on Monday

Impressive young righty to take questions live via webcam at 1 p.m. ET

Zack Wheeler will take part on Monday in a live online video chat, in which the young Mets right-hander will answer select questions submitted by fans over the weekend.

Fans are encouraged to submit their questions for Wheeler to the Mets' Facebook or Twitter account, using #AskZack. You can then watch the live stream of the video chat on Monday at 1 p.m. ET to see if Wheeler answers your question .

Taken sixth overall by the Giants in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, Wheeler was traded to the Mets in 2011 in the deal that sent Carlos Beltran to San Francisco. The 23-year-old right-hander is coming off an impressive rookie year in which he went 7-5 with a 3.42 ERA in 17 starts.

Though overshadowed for much of 2013 by phenom Matt Harvey, Wheeler quietly turned in impressive numbers himself. With Harvey out for the entire '14 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, the Mets will likely lean a bit more on Wheeler next year.

After spending all of 2012 in the Minor Leagues, splitting time between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Buffalo, Wheeler made another 13 starts this past season at Triple-A Las Vegas before making his big league debut on June 18. In that first Major League outing, Wheeler tossed six scoreless innings against the Braves en route to his first career victory.

Among his other highlights, Wheeler dazzled the Padres on Aug. 15 to the tune of 12 strikeouts over just six innings. In accumulating the dozen whiffs, Wheeler limited the Padres to one run on seven hits, walking just one.

Between now and Monday's live video chat, fans are free to ask Wheeler about any of his past milestones, how he's spent the first two months of the offseason and anything in between.
