Mets hoping to get Turner back soon after break

PITTSBURGH -- Mets manager Terry Collins is hopeful Justin Turner will return to the club shortly after the All-Star break. Turner is currently on a rehab assignment with the GCL Mets and went 0-for-4 Saturday.

Turner has been on the disabled list since June 18 with a strained intercostal muscle on his left side. He has a .266/.307/.330 slash line in 44 games for the Mets this season.

"Justin's a pretty big piece here. He can play any position in the infield," Collins said. "Obviously, when he comes off the bench, he's dangerous. We'll see how many at-bats he can get [this week]."
