Collins loses challenge on close play at first

NEW YORK -- Mets manager Terry Collins fell to 3-for-5 on replay challenges Sunday with an unsuccessful review in the seventh inning against the Phillies.

Leading off the inning against left-hander Cole Hamels, Eric Young hit a ground ball to third base and sprinted down the line in an attempt to beat the throw. When first-base umpire Todd Tichenor ruled Young out at first, Collins came storming out of the dugout.

The manager asked for a challenge and, after a two-minute, 32-second review, umpires ruled that Tichenor's original call stands. The Mets have fared better on challenges initiated by opposing managers, winning three out of four.
