Mets need a boost on latest ASG ballot

MILWAUKEE -- Lucas Duda's remains a non-factor on the 2015 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot, despite his strong season in the middle of the Mets' lineup. Only injured third baseman David Wright, who has played eight games this season and is unlikely to return before the All-Star break, cracked the top five at his position in the latest tally of voting released Tuesday by Major League Baseball.

Though Duda leads the Mets with an .874 OPS and is tied for the team lead with 10 home runs, he trails voting leader Paul Goldschmidt of the D-backs by more than 3 million votes -- and the gap is widening. Strong years from Adrian Gonzalez and Anthony Rizzo, among others, also make him unlikely to crack the roster as a reserve.

The Mets' top All-Star candidates are closer Jeurys Familia and starting pitcher Jacob deGrom, but fans do not vote for All-Star pitchers. Last year, second baseman Daniel Murphy was the team's only representative at the game.
