Mets prospect Nimmo swinging hot bat

Outfielder Brandon Nimmo, the Mets' No. 6 prospect, hit his second home run of the season and went 4-for-4 as Class A Advanced St. Lucie defeated Charlotte, 7-3, on Monday.

Nimmo finished a triple short of the cycle. Through 24 games this season, Nimmo is hitting .407 with a .530 on-base percentage. He has five stolen bases and has walked more times (24) than he has struck out (20).

After spending last season at Class A Savannah, a difficult park for left-handed hitters, Nimmo has found St. Lucie to be a better hitting environment. He already has equaled his home run total from 2013, and his slugging percentage has jumped from .359 to .549 this season.

Nimmo, the Mets' first-round selection in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, leads the Florida State League in hitting, on-base percentage, walks and runs (28).
