Will Middlebrooks and Daniel Nava to headline "Red Sox Kid Nation Winterfest" presented by Hood at Fenway Park tomorrow

Free event includes open auditions for Fenway Park public address announcer; national anthem try-outs; hitting lessons in the batting cages, and video game competition featuring Playstation's "MLB 12: The Show"

BOSTON, MA -- Will Middlebrooks and Daniel Nava will welcome children, families, and fans of all ages to a free event at Fenway Park tomorrow from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.  "Red Sox Kid Nation Winterfest," presented by Hood, includes auditions for the Fenway Park public address announcer position, auditions to perform the National Anthem, visits to the Red Sox Clubhouse, and hitting tips at the Fenway Park Batting Cages.

Nava will provide hitting lessons from 12 noon-1:30 p.m., while Middlebrooks will take over from 2-3 p.m.

Tickets for most 2013 regular season home games, which go on sale at 10 a.m. at redsox.com or by calling 888-REDSOX6, will also be available at the Fenway Park Box Office.

Youngsters will also have the chance to meet Wally the Green Monster, who will be taking photos and signing autographs at his "Wally's World" area inside Gate D, the main entrance.  Children can test the speed of their pitches, take swings in the batting cages, ride trains, watch a magician, and enjoy face painters, a stilt walker, and exotic animals.

The day will also include a video game competition on the ballpark's suite level featuring Playstation's "MLB 12: The Show," thanks to Playstation's donation of 40 games and 40 consoles.  The competition will include three divisions – an Under-10, an Under-16, and an open division – and the winner of each is scheduled to play Middlebrooks at 3, 3:20, and 3:40 p.m., respectively, on Fenway Park's giant videoboard.  Registration on redsox.com closes at 5 p.m. today, but even those who are unable to register can still play.
