Moustakas leading Majors in nighttime hitting

OAKLAND -- Here's a fun stat: Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas is leading the Major Leagues in night hitting.

Really.

Moustakas is hitting .354 in night games, topping Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt's .346.

Moustakas has no explanation.

"I didn't even know about it," he said. "But it's pretty cool. I guess it means I have good night vision."

After thinking about it for a moment, Moustakas then added, "You know, I've heard Miggy just crushes it during the day. That right?"

Indeed it is: Detroit's Miguel Cabrera leads all Major Leaguers with a .420 day-time batting average.

• Royals right-hander Kris Medlen will move from Double-A Northwest Arkansas to Triple-A Omaha for his next rehab start, which will be Monday. He will throw 75 pitches or so.
