Mo honored in Seattle as Edgar presents check

SEATTLE -- The Mariners honored all-time saves leader Mariano Rivera on the field before Thursday's 6-1 Yankees win at Safeco Field to commemorate the start of Rivera's final regular-season series in Seattle.

Former Mariners great Edgar Martinez presented the Yankees' closer with a $5,000 check from the Mariners Care Foundation to the Mariano Rivera Foundation.

It was one of the few times Martinez has given anything away to Rivera. Seattle's premier designated hitter from 1987-2004 was 10-for-16 with two home runs and six RBIs in 20 career plate appearances against the right-hander.

The Mariners also played a one-minute tribute to Rivera on their giant video board.
