Betts likely to be out a couple of days

BOSTON -- It will be a least a couple of days before Mookie Betts is back in center field for the Red Sox. In Friday's 13-10 loss to the Blue Jays, Betts crashed into the wall in right-center and sprained his lower back.

"He's sore today," said Red Sox manager John Farrell on Saturday. "He's probably going to need a couple of days to get over the impact of last night."

Though Jackie Bradley Jr. continues to perform well at Triple-A Pawtucket, the Red Sox don't seem inclined to make a roster move just to cover for Betts in the short term.

"With Brock [Holt] being able to move all over the field, we're covered," said Farrell. "So we're not looking to make any kind of roster change, right now."

Rusney Castillo got the start in center on Saturday.

Fortunately, Betts was not concussed and doesn't have any injuries beyond his back.

"It was kind of remarkable that there wasn't more going on," Farrell said. "As his next at-bat was approaching, because he hits with that leg kick, he can't fire that -- and that's where the stiffness and the sprain in the low, left side of the back is restricting him."
