More Giants for A's in 2015

Oakland opens at home vs. Texas on April 6

Major League Baseball unveiled the 2015 regular-season schedule on Monday, and the A's are tentatively set to christen the campaign at home against the Rangers on the night of April 6.

The A's will finish the season in Seattle on Oct. 4, but not before playing their final home series against the Giants from Sept. 25-27 for a three-game set. The Bay Bridge rivals will also square off at AT&T Park in San Francisco for a three-game weekend series July 24-26, as the Battle of the Bay expands from four games to six next year.

Oakland will play a total of 20 Interleague games against the National League West in 2015, including road contests at San Diego (June 15-16), Los Angeles (July 28-29) and Arizona (Aug. 28-30). The A's will welcome the Padres (June 17-18), Rockies (June 29-July 1) and Dodgers (Aug. 18-19) to the Coliseum.

The favorable Interleague schedule allows for reduced travel next season, after this year's trips to the Mets, Marlins and Braves, but the A's will still rack up plenty of miles in 2015, with six separate trips to the state of Texas. They will also play 22 of their final 37 games on the road.

However, after starting the 2014 schedule with five consecutive three-city trips, the A's will make only three of those next year: April 13-23 (Houston, Kansas City, Anaheim), May 1-10 (Texas, Minnesota, Seattle) and Sept. 11-20 (Texas, Chicago, Houston).

As for the home schedule, other highlights include a late May homestand with the Tigers (May 25-27) and Yankees, who will be at the Coliseum on May 28-31 for a four-game weekend set. Yoenis Cespedes and the Red Sox make their visit to Oakland on May 11-13 for a three-game series.
