Morneau hoping to return to Rockies' lineup Tuesday

DENVER -- Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau took batting practice Sunday morning for the second straight day, will play at Triple-A Colorado Springs on Monday and then campaign to be activated Tuesday in Chicago.

Morneau sustained a neck strain coming out of the All-Star break. Now that he feels better -- he not only hit, but he took fielding practice Sunday -- he wants to be in the lineup as soon as possible.

"I'll see if I need one or two games, but hopefully it'll be one and I'll be ready to come off [the disabled list] on Tuesday," Morneau said. "That's up for negotiation.

"The wind might be blowing out that extra day at Wrigley."

Morneau is hitting .312 with 13 home runs and 60 RBIs in 89 games.
