Harper nursing tight left quad, expects to play Tuesday
Leaves Monday's win after tripping between second and third
MIAMI -- Nationals center fielder Bryce Harper exited Monday night's 9-2 win over the Marlins with a tight left quad for precautionary reasons.
"It's been tight since Friday, but nothing too serious," said Harper, who went 3-for-4 with three extra-base hits (a triple and two doubles) and an RBI. "Getting treatment every day. It feels fine. Ready to go tomorrow."
Following his leadoff double in the seventh inning, Harper slipped between second and third trying to get back to the base on Ian Desmond's groundout to short. He advanced to third on Garrett Jones' throwing error on the play.
Steven Souza replaced him in center before the bottom half of the frame.
"I just fell, I just tripped over my foot," Harper said. "Nothing with my hamstring or quad or anything like that."
