News and Notes About the A's Upcoming Homestand

Derek Jeter farewell, division-rival Texas Rangers, defending World Series champs on the docket

The first-place Oakland A's, sporting the American League's best record at 39-26, return home Friday evening for a 10-game homestand which includes a farewell to Yankees legend Derek Jeter, division matchup with the Texas Rangers, and the season's only visit by the defending World Series champion Boston Red Sox.

The homestand opens with the Yankees vs. A's Series driven by Chevy Silverado (June 13-15). Friday's series opener is Super Mario Bros. Fireworks Night, driven by Chevrolet, where fans can watch the fireworks show from the field after the game (space is limited). On Sunday, the A's will honor future Hall of Famer Derek Jeter before his final regular season game in Oakland.

A three-game series with the rival Texas Rangers (June 16-18) is sandwiched between the Yankees series and a four-game set with the defending World Series champion Boston Red Sox (June 19-22). The Red Sox series features the return of Petaluma native Jonny Gomes, Woodland native Dustin Pedroia and perennial All-Star David Ortiz. The Red Sox series and the 10-game homestand come to a close on Sunday, June 22, with the Coco Crisp Garden Gnome giveaway to 20,000 fans presented by Grant Thornton LLP.
