Norfolk rainout could alter plan for Wieters

HOUSTON -- With Triple-A Norfolk's game getting rained out on Tuesday, the plan is for Bud Norris to make a rehab start on Wednesday at 5 p.m. ET and have Matt Wieters catch. The two will rejoin the big league team after that, but given the extra day, it could affect when Wieters makes his season debut in the Majors.

"We'll see how everything goes," said manager Buck Showalter, who had planned to use Wieters as the designated hitter for Thursday afternoon's series finale in Houston. "We're not going to get ahead of ourselves."

Showalter could revert back to the original plan of having Wieters start at catcher on Friday in Cleveland. Norris, after making his third rehab start, could be shortened up so he's still an option to start for the O's on Sunday.

Also on the road back, Kevin Gausman threw two innings of a simulated game at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday afternoon and will pitch in a rehab game for Class A Frederick next.
