Cespedes to be sidelined with hamstring strain

Left fielder exits Thursday's game in seventh after legging out infield hit

HOUSTON -- A's left fielder Yoenis Cespedes departed Thursday's game in the seventh inning with a left hamstring strain and is expected to be held out of the lineup for a couple of days.

"Hopefully it's not more than that," said manager Bob Melvin, "but you never know with those."

Cespedes limped off the field with a trainer by his side, after legging out an infield base hit in his fifth plate appearance of the night. Josh Reddick entered the game to pinch-run for Cespedes.

On Friday, with right-hander Brad Peacock slated to pitch for the Astros, Melvin said he expects to play Brandon Moss in left field and Daric Barton at first base.
