Ogando not expected to go on DL for hand injury

ARLINGTON-- Rangers reliever Alexi Ogando left Saturday night's 4-2 loss to the Blue Jays with a bruised right hand from a line drive. But Rangers manager Ron Washington said Sunday that Ogando won't be going on the disabled list.

"He's a player," Washington said. "Thank God the ball hit him in the palm of the hand and not on his side or anything."

Washington said there was no noticeable swelling and that Ogando should be ready to go again on Tuesday.

Ogando faced three batters, giving up one hit and two walks in the seventh inning of Saturday's game. He also threw a wild pitch, and is now 1-2 on the season with a 7.64 ERA in 22 games.

Washington said that above all, Ogando needs to focus on locating his pitches once his hand heals in a few days.

"The velocity is there, the sharpness is still there on the slider," Washington said. "It's just location -- falling behind hitters, gotta come in the zone."
