Olson, Nunez selected for Futures Game

ARLINGTON -- A's prospects Matt Olson and Renato Nunez will represent the organization at the Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game, to be played July 12 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.

Olson, the A's No. 1 prospect as ranked by MLB.com, was selected for the U.S. roster, while the Venezuelan-born Nunez, the A's No. 4 prospect, was named to the World Team.

Olson, 21, is batting .212 with eight home runs and 34 RBIs through 71 games for Double-A Midland but still boasts a .374 on-base percentage, having drawn 65 walks.

Nunez has nine home runs for the RockHounds, despite having played in just 47 games after starting the year on the disabled list. The 21-year-old corner infielder is batting .238 overall.

Major League Baseball, in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America and the 30 Major League Clubs, selected the 25 players currently on each team. Ken Griffey Sr. will manage the U.S. Team, while Tony Perez will be the skipper of the World Team.

The 17th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game takes place at noon PT on July 12, and it can be seen live on MLB Network and MLB.com, with Matt Vasgersian, Dan Plesac, Heidi Watney and Jonathan Mayo on the call. In addition, SiriusXM Radio will broadcast play-by-play coverage of the event live on MLB Network Radio (XM channel 89; Sirius channel 209). MLB.com will also provide complete coverage before, during and after the game.
