Infante, Escobar forced to exit due to injuries
DETROIT -- Royals second baseman Omar Infante left Friday's 5-4 loss in 12 innings to the Tigers after five innings because of left oblique strain, and shortstop Alcides Escobar left after the top of the 10th inning because of a left elbow contusion.
Manager Ned Yost said Infante "probably" would have an MRI on Saturday, though they will gauge his soreness level first. Escobar, Yost said, just had a deep bruise and would be evaluated on Saturday.
Infante batted twice, striking out the last time. In that final at-bat, he appeared to be stretching that left side.
Oblique strains can take three to four weeks of recovery.
Infante is coming off a career-high seven RBI-game against Cleveland on Thursday.
