Orioles sign three to Minor League deals

Roe, Beal and Tuiasosopo add depth to Baltimore's farm system

The Orioles added some depth to their organization on Tuesday, agreeing to Minor League deals with right-handers Chaz Roe and Jesse Beal, and outfielder Matt Tuiasosopo. The club did not announce whether any of the players would receive Spring Training invitations.

Roe, who turned 28 in October, made three relief appearances for the Yankees last season and gave up two earned runs in two innings. He made his Major League debut for the D-backs the year before, posting a 4.03 ERA over 22 1/3 relief innings, with 13 walks and 24 strikeouts.

A first-round pick by the Rockies in the 2005 First-Year Player Draft, Roe has bounced around in recent years. He spent most of last season for the Marlins' Triple-A New Orleans affiliate, producing a 3.66 ERA, 21 walks and 72 strikeouts over 64 innings.

The O's took Beal in the 14th round in 2008, but he never made it past Class A Advanced Frederick in six seasons in the organization and became a free agent last month. Now 24, Beal pitched 23 games (five starts) for Frederick in '14 and posted a 3.48 ERA across 41 1/3 innings, with 13 walks and 36 strikeouts.

Tuiasosopo had stints with the Mariners from 2008-10, but he enjoyed his most big league success for the Tigers in '13, when he hit .244/.351/.415 with seven homers and 30 RBIs in 81 games. The 28-year-old spent '14 at Triple-A for the Blue Jays and White Sox, producing a combined .240/.357/.379 line with 13 homers.
