Orioles' Monday split-squad slate washed out by rain

Baltimore's afternoon tilt against Phillies, evening game vs. Twins will not be made up

SARASOTA, Fla.-- The Orioles' split-squad Monday games -- a 1:05 p.m. ET away game against the Phillies and a 7:05 p.m. contest at home versus the Twins -- were canceled and will not be made up.

Fans holding paid tickets for the Orioles' home game may exchange them for any remaining spring games at Ed Smith Stadium, subject to availability, or obtain a refund.

With Tuesday's scheduled off-day, the Orioles will have Kevin Gausman and Brian Matusz -- who were slated to pitch Monday afternoon in Clearwater -- throw in a Minor League game. Steve Johnson and several others could play in Minors contests as well.

Ubaldo Jimenez, who was slated to pitch Monday night against the Twins, pitched earlier in the day against the Red Sox Minor League club. He went 3 2/3 innings and allowed two hits with seven strikeouts and two walks. Jimenez threw 66 pitches.

Up next: Wei-Yin Chen, who carries a 3.00 ERA through three spring starts (nine innings) is slated to start for the Orioles against the Rays on Wednesday at 1:05 p.m. ET at Ed Smith Stadium. Watch the game live on MLB.TV.
