Injury report: Hardy joins Triple-A for rehab work

Wieters scheduled to begin catching in Florida; Schoop fitted for knee brace

TORONTO -- Orioles manager Buck Showalter provided a roundup of injury updates on Tuesday before the Orioles' series opener against the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.

Shortstop J.J. Hardy (left shoulder strain) flew to Virginia to join Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday morning to work out. He hit off a tee and took grounders. Showalter did not have an updated timeline for Hardy's rehab.

"Nothing imminent, but it's progressing," Showalter said of Hardy, who's been sidelined since late in Spring Training.

Matt Wieters (rehabbing from Tommy John surgery) is slated to catch two or three innings Friday in extended spring training in Sarasota, Fla., and Jonathan Schoop, who suffered a Grade 1 PCL tear and an MCL sprain in his right knee against the Red Sox on Friday, was fitted for a brace.

Showalter said much of the swelling in Schoop's knee has gone down.

Right-hander Hunter Harvey (right fibula fracture) is scheduled to throw off a half-mound this week, and righty Dane De La Rosa (knee surgery) will pitch in extended spring training next week.
