Panda day to day with bruised right elbow

Red Sox third baseman hit by Felix pitch; X-ray negative

BOSTON -- Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval is day to day after exiting Saturday's 22-10 victory over the Mariners with a right elbow bruise after getting hit by a pitch in the third.

An X-ray of the elbow came back negative.

"At this point, we're going to reevaluate him [Sunday] and see where he's at," said interim manager Torey Lovullo.

Sandoval led off the third and was hit on the first pitch by Mariners starter Felix Hernandez. Sandoval immediately began shaking his arm and went down in pain as Lovullo and trainer Brad Pearson raced out to check on him.

Brock Holt, who started the game at second base, replaced Sandoval at third to begin the fourth. Josh Rutledge took Holt's place at second.

Sandoval hit a solo home run to straightaway center field in his first at-bat in the second.
