Padres Minor League Report: April 26

Bill Center, longtime sportswriter for U-T San Diego, is an employee of the Padres.

Westview High grad Griff Erickson was 2-for-4 on Saturday night with three RBIs to lead Double-A San Antonio to an 8-7 Texas League win at Midland.

Erickson, 27, who is hitting .278, also scored a run for the 6-9 Missions.

Infielder Diego Goris (.286) was 3-for-4, with a double, a walk and two runs scored. Third baseman Casey McElroy (.333) was 3-for-3 with a double, two walks and two runs scored. Left fielder Alberth Martinez (.286) was 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Right-handed starter Dennis O'Grady (3.21 ERA) allowed four runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk with two strikeouts over four innings. Left-hander Chris Nunn (1-0, 9.39 ERA) picked up the win, after allowing a run on a hit and two walks with two strikeouts over 1 2/3 innings.

Right-hander Jay Jackson (1.69 ERA) had a strikeout in two perfect innings to pick up his first save of the season.

AROUND THE FARM:

TRIPLE-A EL PASO (11-6): Salt Lake 6, CHIHUAHUAS 3

Right-hander Daniel McCutchen (0-1, 3.86 ERA) allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk with two strikeouts over four innings in his first start for El Paso, which saw a four-game winning streak end while losing for only the second time in the last 11 games. Righty Stephen Kohlscheen (6.23 ERA) allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk over 2 2/3 innings. Left fielder Tommy Medica (.359) was 2-for-4 with a triple and a RBI. Right fielder Rymer Liriano (.283) was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. Designated hitter Austin Hedges (.370) was 2-for-3 with a walk.

HIGH SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (7-10): STORM 5, Rancho Cucamonga 1

Right-handed starter Zechariah Lemond (5.40 ERA) allowed a run on two hits and four walks with three strikeouts over four innings. Righty Kyle Lloyd (2-0, 0.08 ERA) allowed two hits and a walk with three strikeouts over two scoreless innings to pick up the win. Right-hander Eric Yardley (0.00 ERA) struck out two in a perfect ninth. Designated hitter Yale Rosen had a two-run single, while third baseman Gabriel Quintana was 2-for-4 with a double.

LOW SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (5-9): South Bend 9, TIN CAPS 2

Left fielder Nick Torres raised his franchise-leading batting average to .382, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Center fielder Michael Gettys (.309) was 2-for-4 with a triple. Right-handed starter Ernesto Montas (2-1, 3.38 ERA) allowed six runs (four earned) on one hit and five walks in 2 1/3 innings. Southpaw Kyle McGrath (2.35 ERA) struck out five in three perfect innings. Righty Wilson Santos (0.84 ERA) allowed a walk and a hit with two strikeouts in two scoreless innings.
